My Mentorship
For my Honors Mentorship, I shadowed a physical therapist at The Rehabilitation Institute at Sherwood. I also got to spend a month in inpatient rehab and a month with an acute care therapist at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Through these experiences, I was able to observe many different types of patients and situations that arise in the field of physical therapy.
Why Physical Therapy?
I have known about the career of physical therapy for as long as I can remember because my dad is a physical therapist. He works for a home health therapy company, and I had been to see patients with him many times as a kid. I never really thought about being a physical therapist until I became more competitive in sports. I have had many friends that have been injured in sports and had to go to physical therapy. I saw how much they benefitted from therapy, and I became interested in it as a career. I have always loved sports and being active, and I want a career that allows me to help people. Physical therapy is a great combination of both!
